We live in a great area where we enjoy great weather year around, and a few minutes/hours from the beach as well as mountains, National Parks and hiking trails.

During winter months, especially during holiday season, snow play becomes one of our interests.

ATTENTION: Directions to the Sno-Park found on most mapping programs send you to Emigrant Gap. DO NOT EXIT FREEWAY AT EMIGRANT GAP - THERE IS NO TURN-AROUND. EXIT YUBA GAP INSTEAD.
I-80 East from Sacramento: Take Yuba Gap Exit, 30 miles east of Colfax. Turn right, follow the road to the 'Y' and stay left. Follow signs to the Sno-Park gate, approximately 1 mile from freeway.

Near Angels Camp, CA

Spicer Snow Play Area, off CA-4, above the city of Arnold. (Make sure to stop at the SNAC store and get your $5 parking permit for the snow play area.)

If you want to try out skiing or snow boarding Mt Rose in Tahoe would be an ideal place for beginners.

One place i'd like to add to the list is Sierra-at-Tahoe ( It is a good place to learn for Kids (4-7). The package is cheaper and the class size is smaller.
